The Westmeadows FC has this week accepted the resignation of Senior Coach David Connell.

In a letter to the Westmeadows FC Community, DC outlined the reasons behind his decision,  summing up a challenging year - both on and off the field.

“I would like to sincerely thank Peter Nield, Danny Hale, Shannon O’Brien and Mark Ramsay who 4 years ago were instrumental in getting me to the football club. Along with Andrew Brown and Gareth Hanlon, we all had a plan in place to rebuild the footy club on field and although we didn’t get the ultimate success, to come from finishing on the bottom in 2013 with 2 wins to then play in 3 consecutive finals series is something we can all be proud of.

With the reserves and under 19s all doing well over that period playing finals, and with the inclusion of the thirds this year, I believe the club is now well placed and an attractive proposition for the next candidate.

I would also like to thank Anthony Montrose and Grant Smith for all the work they have done with the Reserves and 19s  over that 4-year period and the support they have shown me, along with all of my assistant coaches Daniel McFerran, Cameron Trewin, Leigh Owen, Paul Growcott, Chris Robertson and Brendan Wallis over the journey.

Personally, this has been a really challenging year away from footy and I would like to thank my wife, Sherri, and our girls -  for their continued support as always.

Lastly to the playing group over the last 4 years, Thank you. Thank you for all the effort and support you have all shown me and more importantly thank you for all of the lifelong friendships I now have.

I wish nothing but long-term success for everyone involved at the Westmeadows FC,

Signing out……... DC”
