BACK-TO-BACK | GUIDA CLAIMS SECOND STRAIGHT JIM DORAN MEDAL

Our Reserve Men capped off a strong 2026 campaign with the presentation of the club’s end-of-season awards, recognising the players who stood out across a year that saw the side reach the Division Two Grand Final.

The Reserves put together an impressive home-and-away season, finishing second on the ladder with 15 wins, two losses and a draw from 18 games.

Their strong form continued into the finals, earning their place on the big stage at Windy Hill. While the season ultimately ended with a 77–51 Grand Final loss to Coburg Districts, reaching the decider capped off an excellent year for the group.

Jim Doran Medal

Jim Doran is a name that has been part of Westmeadows from the very beginning.

As a member of the original committee of the Westmeadows Football Club, he helped lay the foundations for the club we proudly call home today.

Known to many simply as ‘Mr Doran’, Jim and the Doran family have shared a long and proud association with Westmeadows across generations.

His contribution and legacy continue to be recognised today, with our Reserve Men’s Best & Fairest Medal proudly named in his honour.

A fitting tribute to someone who has been part of the Westmeadows story since its earliest days.

Jim Doran Medalist - Gab Guida

For the second consecutive year, Gabe Guida has claimed the Jim Doran Medal, going back-to-back as the Reserve Men’s Best & Fairest.

Finishing the count on an impressive 115 votes, he produced another outstanding season in the yellow and black and played an important role in the Reserves’ run to the Division Two Grand Final.

Claiming the club’s top Reserves honour in consecutive seasons is a significant achievement and a reflection of his consistency and contribution to our football club.

Gabe finished well clear at the top of the count, ahead of Seamus Mulcahy (56), Jackson Iulianella (51), Patrick Jamieson (48) and Jed Shennan (42).

The Coaches Award was presented to Anthony Guida, recognising his contribution and commitment to the team throughout the season. Unfortunately, his year was cut short by a season-ending injury in Round 17, but his impact across the year was recognised by the coaching group.

Brodie Camilleri finished the season as the Reserve Men’s Leading Goal Kicker with 32 goals, providing a strong target up forward and consistently hitting the scoreboard throughout the year.

Patrick Jamieson’s finals campaign was recognised with two awards, taking out our Reserve's Division Two Best in Finals and receiving the inaugural Todd Johnston Medal as the club’s Best on Ground in the Grand Final. The medal is named in honour of Todd Johnston, whose football legacy represents toughness, loyalty, leadership and excellence.

Among the League’s Best

We were strongly represented at the EDFL Division Two Reserve Men’s Best & Fairest count, with Seamus Mulcahy and Jackson Iulianella both finishing at the pointy end of the Tim Watson Medal leaderboard.

Seamus came close to the league’s top individual honour, polling 15 votes, just one vote behind joint winners Amos Potter (Roxburgh Park) and Elijah Sanderson (Sunbury Kangaroos) on 16. It was an outstanding result and recognition of the quality and consistency of his season.

Jackson was also recognised among the competition’s leading players, polling 12 votes to finish equal fourth, alongside Jack Zivkovic (Coburg Districts).

To have two Westmeadows players inside the top five of the league Best & Fairest count was a fantastic achievement for both players and another highlight from an impressive season for our Reserve Men.

A big thank you to Head Coach Colin Stenhouse for his leadership of the Reserve Men throughout the 2026 season, guiding the group through a strong year and all the way to the Division Two Grand Final.

Thank you also to Assistant Coaches Andrew Saico and Simon Tennant, with Simon stepping into the coaching group during the first half of the season while sidelined with an Achilles injury. Their time and commitment to the group throughout the year was greatly appreciated.

And finally, thank you to Team Manager Mark Tognon for everything he did behind the scenes each week to support the players, coaches and team.
