WEEKEND WRAP | JUNIOR PROGRAM

After a long wait through pre season, our youngest and oldest tiger cubs finally got the opportunity to get into the action on Sunday. While the results were mixed, there was no shortage of highlights, with smiles and happy faces everywhere.
Our Under 8’s braved the chilly start out at Greenvale and Pascoe Vale. With strong numbers, we were even able to share some players around with the opposition, making it a great learning experience for everyone, including our new coaches and team managers.
Our Under 10’s had a really tight contest against Coburg Districts, just missing out on the W. We were certainly proud of the team’s efforts, especially young Bentley who showed great care for an injured opponent.
For our under 12’s, it was a difficult day against a strong Moonee Valley opponent, but to their credit they stuck to the task and played the game right out to the end. A special mention to young Yaquob, who played his 50th game in the yellow and black.
Our Under 14’s had a great win against Hillside, with the team gelling well despite not having played together much previously. It was a classic team effort, with contributions across the field that would have made coach Sam Boyce very pleased.
To finish off the day, our Under 16’s had a tough loss in a game they led for much of the afternoon. For a team that has really come together over the last month, the boys should be very proud of their efforts, and with a few more games together and a touch more fitness, these are the types of games coach Damon will be hoping to turn into wins.
Overall, a very successful first day back for the Tigers. Thanks to all our volunteers who helped get the season off to a great start.
