Willowbrook Recreation Reserve Redevelopment

An exciting new chapter is underway at Willowbrook Recreation Reserve, with the redevelopment of our clubrooms continuing to take shape. Construction commenced in May 2026, with the first sections of the new building since arriving and being lifted into place. After months of planning and work behind the scenes, it has been exciting to see the new facility begin to become a reality.

The project is expected to be completed in early 2027 and will deliver a modern and accessible facility for the football, cricket and darts clubs, as well as the wider Westmeadows community.

The redevelopment

The Willowbrook Recreation Reserve redevelopment includes:

Demolition of the existing pavilion and construction of a new pavilion
Upgrades to the existing car park
Improved accessibility and access throughout the reserve, including paths, ramps, stairs and lifts
Enhancements to the surrounding open space
Installation and connection of site services

The new pavilion will provide improved access, amenity and usability, creating a facility that can better support the continued growth of sport and community participation at Willowbrook.

Our community contribution

As part of the redevelopment, the football, cricket and darts clubs will work together to fully fit out the new rooms with furniture, appliances and equipment. While some existing items will be reused, Westmeadows Football Club’s contribution towards the fit-out is expected to be between $35,000 and $40,000.

To help achieve this, a Refurbishment Board will be proudly displayed inside the new clubrooms, recognising those who have contributed towards the next chapter of Willowbrook. Community members, families, past and present players, supporters and local businesses can purchase a plaque for $1,000, with families and groups encouraged to contribute together. Donations can be made directly to the club, with contributions tax deductible.

Every contribution will go directly towards helping fit out our new home and creating a facility our entire community can enjoy for years to come.

More than just a club

The redevelopment is about much more than new clubrooms. Willowbrook has long been a place where local kids and families come together, lifelong friendships are formed and generations of players have had the opportunity to represent Westmeadows.

In 2026, more than 100 children participated in our Auskick program, led by Liana Keenan and a dedicated team of volunteers across Friday nights and Saturday mornings. Throughout the season, our Auskickers also had the opportunity to participate in Auskick carnivals, enjoying the chance to play alongside other young footballers, develop their skills and experience the excitement of game day.

Westmeadows also proudly fielded five senior sides including Senior Men, Senior Women, Reserves, Thirds and Under 18.5s. Alongside seven junior teams, with boys and girls programs from Under 8s through to Under 16s.

The continued growth across all levels of the club shows why investing in the future of Willowbrook is so important.

A year to remember

The redevelopment has also come during one of the most successful seasons in Westmeadows Football Club history.

Our Senior Women went through the 2026 season undefeated to win the Division One premiership, bringing home the club’s first senior women’s flag since joining the competition in 2018.

Our Senior Men won the Division Two premiership, ending a 42-year wait for a senior men’s premiership after reaching the Grand Final in each of the previous two seasons. Our Reserve Men also reached the Grand Final, earning their opportunity on the biggest stage after a strong season.

Our Under 12s delivered one of the great moments of the year, coming from 20 points down at three-quarter time in their Grand Final to win the premiership. From Auskick and junior football through to senior premiership success, Westmeadows continues to grow both on and off the field.

With our new pavilion now taking shape, we look forward to the next chapter at Willowbrook and creating a home that our players, members, families and wider community can be proud of for generations to come.
