SENIOR WOMEN'S WEEKEND WRAP

Our Senior Women’s side faced Power House last Saturday in a hard, contested pre-season hit-out against quality opposition, with Senior Coach Gemma Wright providing her take following the group’s second outing.

It was a genuine test, played at a high intensity with strong pressure around the ball. The contest challenged us across the ground, particularly at stoppage and in our ability to defend repeat inside 50 entries. With a number of key players unavailable, it created opportunity for others to step up and show their capability at the level.

There were periods where we moved the ball well and executed parts of our system, but the game reinforced the standard required and the consistency needed across four quarters.

As a group, we continue to build connection, with our intent and effort around the footy a real positive. These are the types of hit-outs we need as we prepare for the season ahead. Overall, a valuable outing that will hold us in good stead, with clear focus areas as we continue to build our game.

Sarah Wright was again influential around the ball, finding plenty of it and continuing her strong pre-season form. Mackenzie Best and Emily Brebner stood up down back, competing strongly in the air and at ground level in key moments, while Stef Maiorana provided class forward of centre, finishing her work and presenting as a strong target inside 50.

Our Senior Women’s side returns to action tonight against Montmorency.
