WEEKEND WRAP | SENIOR MEN

It’s been a testing few weeks in the men’s program, with injuries to key players. Aaron Evans, Jake Hatton, Mitchell Church, Ryan Stingel, Shaun O’Grady and Brayden Sudaro have all been struck down by injury and, unfortunately, we picked up a few more on the weekend.

We’ve had patches of good football over the last three weeks but just haven’t been good enough for long enough, resulting in two big losses to Glenroy and Hadfield, and a close loss to Roxburgh Park. Whilst injuries have hurt, we put 22 guys out on the park every week and expect to win, so losing three in a row has been disappointing.

As a coaching group, it’s been great to see some of our younger players get a crack at senior footy, along with some positional changes for established senior players. Will Adams has shown he has the makings of a long-term senior player for us, while Riley Hearne and Daniel Spencer have looked great moving forward of the ball from defensive positions over the last few weeks.

Jordan Kosteas, Jordan Hollow and Ryan Capron have been great through the middle of the ground.

Over the next few weeks, we are really excited to see some guys who have been playing good footy in our reserves program and deserve their chance to represent the club at senior level. Whilst you never like injuries early in the year, we see it as a great opportunity for others to take their chance at senior level and cement their spot in the side moving forward.
