WEEKEND WRAP | SENIOR MEN

Our Under 18.5's celebrated their first win of the season in style, producing a dominant four-quarter performance to run over the top of Oak Park. After showing glimpses throughout the year, the boys were able to put together a complete team performance and reap the rewards for their hard work.

Meanwhile, our Senior Men pushed a quality Coburg Districts outfit all the way, falling just short after a hard-fought contest. Despite the result, there were plenty of encouraging signs and positives to build on heading into the second half of the year.

For this week's special edition, we hand the wrap over to Under 18.5 captain Lawson, who reflects on the group's breakthrough win.

"From the first bounce, everyone was talking positively on the field and supporting each other. We kept our heads up and pushed through the tough moments when Oak Park had some momentum.

Instead of dwelling on errors, we all quickly bounced back, which is something we haven’t been able to do in the past. Our forward line was less congested, helping us get better looks at goal due to our fast ball movement on the wings. The backs were tight and didn’t concede any 50/50 contests, which gave us plenty of run through the middle.

Throughout the season, we have played some great football for half a game before being run over, which isn’t up to the Division 1 standard. However, with a different approach and a team reset, we played our first four-quarter game and look forward to the challenges ahead." - Lawson Johnson-Schollick
